How To Build Big Muscles Fast
How to build big muscles is something almost every guy who ever picks up a weight wants to know. And judging by all the questions I receive on this topic in my email inbox, finding the answer to how to build big muscles isn't easy.A big reason for this is all the bad information out there in the magazines, and especially from the supplement companies who all tell you that you just need to buy "X" or "Y" and you'll increase lean muscle mass at a record pace. Sadly, it just isn't true and most of us end up damn frustrated when we put in a lot of hard work in the gym and end up with nothing to show for it. Well, screw that. You can build muscle mass pretty quickly and add pounds of serious muscle to your frame, no matter how skinny you are to start. But you need to do it right. For starters, stop following the crazy routines of top bodybuilders, who either take a lot of steroids and other drugs or they have the world's best genetics and are able to build big muscles practically by looking at a set of weights. Unfortunately, most of us don't have it that easy. While learning how to build big muscles can be really complex when you factor in all the details and important pieces to a good weight training program, the big rules are pretty simple. 1. Don't Overtrain Weight workouts put a LOT of stress on your body and take some serious time to recover. Over training is probably the number one killer of muscle building progress in most trainees. Most guys workout too long and too often and never give their poor muscles a chance to recover from the beating, let alone grow from it and increase lean muscle mass. When you hit the weights, you tear down muscle fibers. Those muscle fibers first have to repair themselves and recover from the shock of the workout. Then they need even more time to overcompensate by growing larger and stronger so that they can be ready the next time you go crazy and work them that hard. This recover and growth process takes time. A lot more time than we want. So if you're bombing and blasting your muscles with lots of sets in marathon two hour training sessions, and working out hard six days a week, your muscles will never get a chance to recover let alone grow. 2. Use the Right Bodybuilding Exercises If you want to increase lean muscle mass, you need to stop screwing around with a bunch of wimpy isolation and machine exercises. Your weight routine needs to be efficient and hit your muscles with the exercises that provide the most potential for growth. If you take a look around your gym, you'll see most people avoid the exercises that are best when it comes to building bigger muscles. Seriously, how often to you see anyone doing real work on deadlifts, barbell squats, heavy lunges, or stiff legged deadlifts? Unless you workout in one of the rare underground strength gyms, you never see this. And that's a big reason you don't see these people building lean muscle mass either. Exerting yourself with tiny pink weights and on wimpy machines is NOT how to build big muscles! Not by a long shot. 3. Training Intensely You have to work out hard. And I don't mean by doing 50 sets in a workout and training 2 hours. I mean work out with serious intensity for a brief period of time and then getting out of the gym so your body can recover and you can build those big muscles you want so badly. You don't need 15 or 20 sets per body part. If you work out intensely enough, 4 to 6 work sets per body part is plenty. Sure, there are exceptions. For example, if you're doing a routine like the muscle building 8 x 8 routine you'll do more sets. But I'm talking about in a traditional routine. Here's a sample back training routine for you. - Deadlift 2 sets of 8 to 10 reps (each set taken to failure) with 2 minutes rest between sets
- One Arm Dumbbell Row 2 sets of 8 to 10 reps (each set taken to failure) with 2 minutes rest between sets
- Chin Ups - 2 sets to failure
