Proform Treadmills - Reviews
Proform treadmills are very popular. Like other big names such as Healthrider, Weider, Reebok, Nordic Track and Weslo, Proform is put out by Icon Health and Fitness, one of the largest fitness equipment manufacturers around.
Proform treadmills have varying features and qualities with prices ranging from under $500.00, upwards of $1,300.000, a typical mid range price.
If you're serious about your workouts, don't even think about a very low end treadmill. Treadmills definitely are one of those things where "you get what you pay for".
This doesn't mean you can't get a sturdy treadmill at a
decent price. Just remember that if you decide to purchase an entry level model, that's exactly what you'll be getting - entry level, with a warranty to match.
Like many other low cost treadmills Proform treadmills carry 90 day warranties.
Proform 795 SL Treadmill
Carries a solid 2.5 HP motor and a top speed of 10 mph, which is more than fine, unless you want to sprint. It also includes a decent 50 x 18 inch treadmill belt. This model includes a heart rate monitor as well as the more typical displays - calories burned, speed and distance.
A great model for the cost.
Proform Crosswalk GTS Treadmill
This model includes the minimum motor size that I recommend, 2.0 HP. While it does allow up to 10 mph like the 705 SL Treadmill, the smaller motor will work harder and most likely wear out sooner.
It also includes dual action arms like you'd find on an elliptical machine.
Includes all the basic display functions like the 795, but no heart rate monitor. A great beginning treadmill for the price.
Proform 995 SEL Treadmill
This is probably Proform's best value. Includes a huge 2.75 HP motor, a huge 55 x 20 deck, heart rate monitor, 8 pre programmed workouts, the standard readouts, adjustable incline from 1.5% to 10%, and an '8 weeks to a better body program'.
Also includes a free personal training package on 4 CDs that you plug directly into your treadmill.
If you're looking for a great treadmill under $1,000.00, this is one of the few right here.
