Stair Climbers



Stair climbers are aerobic exercise machines that mainly offer a lower body cardio workout. However, they are a great piece of home fitness equipment that can be used from beginner to advanced and produce a quality fat burning workout in minimal time.

You can easily read or watch TV while getting your cardio exercise.

Stair climbers come in two different styles.

  • Dependent steppers - push one step down and the other automatically comes up. Good choice for beginners, although not as challenging a workout.

  • Independent steppers - On these stair climbers both feet need to work at once. It could take a few minutes to get the hang of, but overall a much better choice. Over the long term these stair climbers accommodate increasing fitness levels.

  • The resistance effect - changing the degree of difficulty of the "climb" - is adjusted either manually or with computerized controls.

    The computerized versions of stair climbers enable you to vary the routine easily and some models will estimate calories expended. This may be motivating for you! Other options include heart rate monitors and a number of preset climbing workouts.
